Machu Picchu – An Astonishing Landmark

Machu Picchu is one of the most known landmarks in the world, one of the most enigmatic sites, stirring the interest and intrigue of people. The researchers and historians found there some buildings with facilities such as temples, storage rooms, baths and palaces, 150 houses, everything extremely well preserved.
The structures stand out due to the grey granite, something that makes them both architectural and aesthetic miracles, especially if considering that these structures weigh more than 50tons each. Nevertheless, they are perfectly carved and sculpted, and they fit together in a miraculous way.
The Machu Picchu site was built approximately in AD 1430 and was declared a protected site, included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites in 1983. It is still considered a sacred place, adored by the Peruvians and visited by millions of people every year. It is considered the main attraction in Latin America.
